Alpha Chi Omega

The sisters of Alpha Chi would first like to congratulate all of the amazing women who came through rush this past week. We hope you all are enjoying the qualities and strengths found in sisterhood and are looking forward to working with the Greek system. We would also like to congratulate the sisters of Chi Omega, Alpha Xi Delta, Alpha Phi and Kappa Delta for a successful spring recruitment.

We must all remember in future recruitments to work together as a whole system, as we have done in the past, so that the women coming through realize that each house has something special and unique to offer. And, while we are all different we share in a common bond. The Greek community at UNH has always prided itself with the breaking of stereotypes because unlike other colleges and universities, we do not tear each other down secretly or hopefully prevent the success of other houses. As we all work hard with our public relations representatives let's stay true to that tradition next fall. To improve the system and make it a memorable and positive experience for all, we must remember the values that define each chapter and honor them whole-heartedly.

For upcoming events, the sisters here are looking forward to the 24- hour Relay for Life walk taking place the first weekend of May. During this event, the Greek system and any willing members of the Durham and UNH communities will be marching around the track for 24 hours. This event was designed to honor and remember those lost to cancer, and to celebrate cancer survivors. All proceeds raised will go towards cancer research and funding, so please join a team- or come offer your support to the walkers!

Alpha Chi will also be asking our fellow Greeks and community members to support us in our annual Lonnie Stern 5K run which will also be taking place in the second weekend of May. Please help us raise money for a wonderful cause. More information will be available shortly, so be ready!

For our spotlight sister this week we would like to recognize Holly Titus the Spring '04 recruitment chair. Titus has already proved herself to be dedicated and involved with all sorority functions. However, her efforts and success with Saturday's Bids day has further proven what an outstanding, heartfelt, and dynamic sister she is. We congratulate her on her position, and would like her to know that we completely support her in her work here. We all look forward to the upcoming program. Great work this week!

That's it for now but have a great week everyone!

Alpha Tau Omega

The brothers of ATO would like to welcome the new members of the Alpha Mu class. We would also like to welcome all other new members into the Greek community. We hope that you discover the friendships and involvement that our community values.

The following brothers received semester honors last fall: Nick Baillargeon, John Boenhnert, Mark Constantinou, Jeffrey Gagnon, Joe Gallant, Ryan Harold, Tom Lundquist, Justin Mahan, Colby Marques, Ryan McCarthy, Justin Robert, Derek Smith, David Sohn, and Matt Travaglini. We would also like to congratulate the Alpha Lambda class for having the highest overall GPA for new members last fall. Congratulations and best of luck to all this semester.

Alpha Xi Delta

This week Alpha Xi Delta along with rest of the Greek community partook in spring recruitment. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the women who took the time to participate in recruitment. Congratulations to all of the houses on a great week and to all of the Greek system's new members. Alpha Xi Delta looks forward to the semester with 16 new members who will be wonderful additions to our house.

Kappa Delta

The Sisters of Kappa Delta are so excited to welcome their New Member class, Spring '04. Welcome Home: Catie Aleman, Ashley Briggs, Katrina Castagnozzi, Rachel Costa, Ann Courtemanche, Katie Cowles, Arley DeMark, Rita DiNunzio, Lensey Dixon, Cassie Dresser, Becka Fisher, Chelsea Fisher, Michelle Greenhalgh, Patty Grennon, Amanda Larkin, Erinne McCarthy, Katie Mosley, Jennifer Ryan, Courtney Sinclair, Eryn Snyder, Tanze Tyler and Amanda Whalen. We all had a great week meeting and talking with amazing women. Everyone who attended had an awesome time at our sisterhood Bid Day activity and can't wait for more to come this semester.

We have been hard at work academically lately as well, preparing for midterms and exams. We had a professor come and give an academic member ed last week, giving us tips on balancing work and play, and giving us great study tips! Now, we're more than ready to take on our academic challenges this semester.

The pressure is on and excitement is brewing within the house. Greek God is about a month away and everything is starting to fall into place! Penny Wars are about to begin and scenery is being made, escorts are getting ready to don their togas and the sisters are getting ready to cheer everyone on. We can't wait to see you all there!

Phi Kappa Sigma

Phi Kappa Sigma would like to congratulate our new members Ben Fernandes, Seth Lyle, Robert E'Omeara, Evan Bender, Tom Hill, Joe Keniston, Ben Haskell, Mike Rofofsky, Dave Dzivra, and Tyler Morrissey as they are beginning to learn the customs and traditions of our fraternity. We welcome you all into our house and look forward to teaching you and watching you grow into fraternity men. Good luck guys!!

Pi Kappa Alpha

Brothers Taylor Tracy and Nick Simon of the UNH club hockey team traveled down to Maryland for two games against the seventh ranked team in the Southeast Division, the Maryland University Turps. UNH won 7-5 on Friday night and 6-4 on Saturday night. Goalie Nick Simon played an excellent pair of games in net and Taylor played superb defense. The team's record is now 16-1 and have one remaining game left at the Whitt next weekend. Meanwhile the Pike intramural Hockey and Basketball teams are still undefeated and hope to keep it that way this week as games continue for both teams.

Sigma Beta

Sigma Beta fraternity had a very successful rush week. Closed rush on Thursday saw a respectable turnout, as 11 potential members were extended bids to join our brotherhood. Congratulations go out to the Sigma Beta Spring 2004 pledge class:

Brodie Hall, Roman Pasquerella, Gregg Whalen, Peter Youngman, Collin Thigpen, Andrew Davis, Kevin McMahon, Mike Jennings, Todd McNulty, Dan Moineau, and Matt Colpitts.

In other news, plans for a Parent's Weekend are underway in a few weeks when the weather warms up. Parents will receive the house tour accompanied with a barbeque and other scheduled activities. It should prove to be an exciting and busy spring semester.

Sigma Nu

The brotherhood of Sigma Nu would like to congratulate the new pledge class of spring 2004. They are Donnie Wyman, Justin Toy, Patrick Rezzo, Mike Renzi, Mike Rego, Richard Palermo, Chad O'connoer, Mark Melchione, Ian Macintosh, William Hinkle, Chris Green, Peter Carpenter, Ben Varney, and Roger Cook . We hope you guys have a successful semester of pledging and become the men we know you can.

We would also like to congratulate the other houses on campus on a successful spring rush and good luck with their up coming semester of pledging.

Sigma Phi Epsilon

The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon would like to congratulate the seven pledges that accepted their bids this weekend. We look forward to having them with us for an enjoyable semester.

On Sunday, Feb. 29, Sigma Phi Epsilon, in conjunction with Liberty Snowboards, would like to invite everyone to a Rail Session in front of Sig Ep. A 15-20 foot drop will be set up for professional and amateur riders alike. The event starts at 11 a.m. and admission is $5. The proceeds benefit the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring program. Food and drink will be provided. So whether you are a snowboarding fan or not, come support a good cause and have a great time.

Tau Kappa Epsilon

Brothers at TKE would like to congratulate the 14 new pledges that are pledging TKE. We would also like to congratulate the pledges at all the houses on campus. Rush can be often challenging and us brothers strongly support students who have desire in becoming a part of Greek life. This spring's rush went real well, and many guys showed support for fraternity life. Though the free food and sodas were a plus, meeting the brothers is the most important, and always will be the most important part of rush.
