Since it’s already rolling, Android Nougat may very soon come to newer gen Samsung Galaxy devices. Here is an overview of that is known so far about this issue.
First of all, A. Nougat is only rolling out to certain Nexus devices and even this process is a longer one than expected. Supposedly, the upgrade will come to other Android based device manufacturers later this year. Samsung is, of course, one of those manufacturers and this already gives us a timeframe for the Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 Nougat roll out.
What users should note however, is that the Android Nougat for manufacturers will look somewhat different than the Android Nougat for Nexus devices. For example, one of the most obvious differences will be that Nougat for Samsung will get the same functionality and something extra, tailored to it, such as improved stylus support. The stylus is that pen-like device that is used to write on the Samsung phablets’ display.
We also know that the roll out for Samsung Galaxy devices will happen soon because test results for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have appeared on the Geekbench site and they are listed as running Android 7.0 Nougat.
There are some rumors that place the release date for Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 Nougat in the fourth quarter of this year which refers to the months of October, November and December. A report from the Korea Times places the release date for it either in October or in November.
Supposedly, the Samsung devices that will be getting Android Nougat are the Samsung Galaxy S7 models, the S6 models and the Galaxy Note 5 and at least one carrier (T-Mobile) has confirmed that it will upgrade those devices to Android N.
Now, most of these are assumptions but the release of Nougat for Samsung devices should be preceded by a beta testing so we should look out for that.
