I would completely agree that a class on the sort of life skills seniors need after graduating would be helpful. Even though most of us have been doing our own taxes or paying our utility bills, finding adequate health insurance is a daunting task, particularly if you are unemployed. And a seminar on navigating the ins and outs of job offers (for example, what does a 401k mean or how good are these health benefits they're offering me) would be invaluable.

Has anyone seen the HMP 401 course - US Health Care Systems? Its offered multiple times in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

UNH already offers a class very similar to the one described its called HMP 401 - US Health Care Systems. If you were to offer this to the whole student body or just the senior class there would be a need for more Professors. But it is offered in the GenEd under the social science area.

I take issue with Faris Al-Hashmi's comment about healthcare. He states that "Obama's plan has failed to garner enough bipartisan support...across the nation to agree on a liberal proposal." In fact, the vast majority of the people in the nation (over 70% at one point) agreed that the plan proposed should be accepted. It was not the people, but the political process and the lack of true debate that undermined the previous effort. Left to the states, as it has been, the healthcare system in this country has become broken and unmanageable. Only a national framework, detailing rights and responsibilities of insurance coverage, is going to resolve the issue in any meaningful way.
In addition, with regard to New Hampshire, the state has so little leverage due to its size and placement, that there is virtually no bargaining power to craft an effective state plan.
