“From Here to Eternity” is a classic film from 1953 that deals with the lives of several soldiers stationed in Hawaii. The movie was based on the popular novel by James Jones. Frank Sinatra, Burt Lancaster, and many other familiar names play the main roles in the film, and the action takes place in the months leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The story deals with relationship issues and even involves a storyline of boxing. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, “From Here to Eternity” won him the Academy Award for best director, and the film also took home the honor of best picture (among many other accolades).
Film Underground, UNH’s film appreciation club, will be screening “From Here to Eternity” this coming Thursday March 11th at 7:00 PM in Mub Theatre I. The screening is free and open to the UNH community. Following the film, the members of Film Underground will host a discussion.
