Wildcat Notebook: Men's Basketball loses to BC in opener

Senior forward Jared Dudley and freshman forward Shamari Spears combined for 42 points to lead the No. 15 Boston College Eagles (1-0) past the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (0-1), 86-47, on Friday night in non-conference action played at Silvio O. Conte Forum.
Wildcat sophomore guard Tyrece Gibbs notched a team-high 11 points with three steals on the night and delivered two key 3-pointers early in the contest to put the 'Cats up 11-8. The Eagles, however, stormed back into the game with a 14-0 run as they finished the half shooting 13-of-27 (48.1%). UNH freshman guard Dan McGeary tallied six first half points en route to scoring a career-high eight points for the game as the Wildcats shot 9-of-29 from the field (31%) in the first half, entering halftime down 42-24.
The second half was more of the same as the Eagles used its size and strength, holding a 47-20 advantage in rebounds, while playing consistently stingy defense that led to 10 UNH turnovers. UNH improved its shooting in the second half (35%) and forced six BC turnovers.
Senior co-captain Blagoj Janev posted eight points along with five rebounds, while junior forward Mike Christensen registered eight points and four rebounds. Freshman forward Seth Price notched four points and five rebounds in his collegiate debut.
The Wildcats return to action on Monday (Nov. 13) when they play host to Division II affiliate and member of the Northeast-10 conference Franklin Pierce College. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium for the Wildcats' home opener.
