Bees sting horses, riders and rescuers

A woman was thrown from her horse Sunday while riding on wooded trails in Durham, sustaining minor injuries and prompting a rescue response that included three local rescue departments, according to a press release from UNH Media Relations.
The accident occurred in a remote wooded area off of Dame Road, where rescue personnel had to hike approximately one mile on foot to reach the scene.
According to the press release, the victim and her companion were both thrown from their horses when bee stings aggravated the animals. Though one of the riders was uninjured, a forty-nine year old female was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Durham Fire Department and MacGregor EMS were dispatched to the scene at 12:47 p.m., and the Newmarket Fire Department lent the effort use of its four-wheeler.
Officials from the Durham Fire Department and the MacGregor EMS were unable to elaborate on the details released to the press yesterday, and both declined to identify the victim.
