In tribute to the life of University of New Hampshire volleyball student-athlete Holly Young, the University's athletic department will host a celebration in honor of the 22-year-old on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Lundholm Gymnasium at 7 p.m.

Young passed away last Thursday evening (Jan. 24) after a three-year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2004 after her freshman season. She missed the following year while in treatments, but rejoined her teammates on the sidelines in 2006.

The celebration is open to the public and will highlight Holly's life accomplishments in a slideshow presentation and through public speaking from members of the athletic department, volleyball program and the Young family.

The Young family encourages donations for Solid Tumor Research, Jimmy Fund Clinic, 44 Binney St., Boston MA 02115, or to the Holly Young Volleyball Scholarship Fund, c/o Guidance Dept, DY Regional High School, 210 Station Ave, S. Yarmouth MA 02664.
