Men's
Danny Dries • Men's Hockey • Freshman Forward
The Lake Orion, Michigan native came out of nowhere this season, starting as an unfamiliar freshman and finishing as a member of the Wildcats' first line. He was promoted to the top line in December and never relinquished the spot. Dries finished the season playing in 37 games, in which he scored 11 goals on just 59 shots. He also dished out 17 assists and compiled a plus/minus of seven. Prior to playing at UNH, Dries played for Cedar Rapids in the USHL, where he registered 17 points. He also led the USHL in shooting
percentage.
Women's
Kayley Herman • Women's Hockey • Freshamn Goalie
Herman broke the UNH single-season records for wins (29) and goals-against-average (1.07), while her marks in save percentage (.938), shutouts (nine) and minutes (2026:45) rank third. With those statistics, Herman was No. 3 in the nation in GAA and wins as well as fourth in minutes and fifth in save percentage. Herman's 2008 Hockey East accolades included ITECH Goaltending Champion, Second-Team All-Star, ITECH Goaltender of the Month (December) and Mission Rookie of the Month (November and January).
