Durham Police are looking for any information pertaining to an assault on the sidewalk in front of 66 Main Street – the former Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house – on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 12:59 a.m.
Witnesses described a group of white males challenging passers-by to fight them. Local surveillance shows four white males and two white females in the area at the time. All six individuals ran away from the scene after the assault.
The victim was found bleeding from his head and having trouble speaking. McGregor Memorial EMS, Durham Police and Durham Fire responded and transported the victim to Wentworth Douglass Hospital.
While Sergeant Frank Daly, the head of the investigation, could not reveal the name of the victim or whether or not he is a UNH student, he did say that the victim is recovering and was “treated and released the same night.”
Daly encourages anyone with any identifications or information as to the assault to contact him or Detective Jennifer Kelly of the Durham Police at 603-868-2324, even anonymously.
