On Thurs. March 8, the Granite State Room will host MUSO's spring music show, Aesop Rock featuring Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz plus special guest Kimya Dawson.
"This is the first show MUSO has charged students for [this year]," MUSO Music Director Sam Ueda said.
That being said, tickets are only $5 for students, so no fans are complaining. The fact that there will be four artists on stage for so little money is more than enough for one concert.
Aesop Rock is a hip-hop artist known for his groups The Weathermen and Hail Mary Mallon. Aesop was also ranked 19th in the Top 100 Artists of the Decade by music site betterPropaganda in 2011. Multiple critics have labeled him as a "dictionary MC" due to his abstract and intricate lyrics.
"I'm going to NY to finish up the last week of mixing on my new record. Then a show in New Hampshire," he said in a recent tweet.
Kimya Dawson is mostly known for her work on the Juno Original Soundtrack and her work with her former band The Moldy Peaches. She is also a Grammy-winning, platinum-selling artist. Recently, she also took to Twitter to promote the upcoming show.
Dawson posted: "Are you aware of the fact that on March 8th I am playing a show at University of New Hampshire with @AesopRockWins @Rob_Sonic & @DJBIGWIZ?"
Dawson and Ace work collaboratively with Dawson's soft tones and acoustic guitar, and Aesop Rock's intelligent lyrics and hip-hop.
"These songs bring out the sad hippie in Aesop and Dawson and it's not a bad thing, but more of an extension of what we've been hearing from them all along," Daytrotter magazine wrote in a review.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the March 8 show, which starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students. They can be purchased at the MUB ticket office.
