Friday bus cancellation focal point of frustration

Despite being home to residents for less a month, the recently built Cottages of Durham development has already seen multiple changes to its policies, drawing complaints from many vocal residents.
Over the weekend, the Cottages Connector bus route was canceled in the midst of its Friday night route. Security guards from the Cottages told residents that students attempted to flip the bus, prompting Transportation Services to halt the bus route. The route was also terminated on Saturday night as well.
In a letter issued to residents last week, the development informed students that the clubhouse, which is advertised as open 24 hours a day, would not be open the promised 24 hours a day “because of the lack of responsibility and respect shown to our property,” citing “excessive parties” and “open containers.”
Residents also shared concerns on the Cottages’ Facebook page about the single dumpster located at the entrance of Clubhouse Street not being sufficient for disposal of all trash and recycling.
Phone calls to Transportation Services and the Cottages of Durham were not returned Monday.
