To the Editor:
I am writing as a concerned member of the UNH alumni community. The TNH has consistently depicted radical feminist activism and rhetoric as egregious and irrational. Where is the justification in targeting activists that openly speak out against sexual assault? Since when is it appropriate to trivialize violence against women? Perhaps, those individuals uncomfortable with feminist activism should act as responsible members of their community and educate themselves. Anyone is capable of doing it. I suggest reading any book by Catharine MacKinnon or Mary Daly.
Furthermore, I am disgusted that TNH would concoct an "On the Spot" question that his clearly meant to harm members of the Feminist Action League. It's interesting to note that this occurred on the first day of sexual assault awareness month. Who is responsible for this type of backlash? How could so many individuals participate in such soulless, pre-meditated carnage?
Writing out the check for my student loan payment will have a whole new meaning for me this month. During my academic enrollment at UNH, I was fortunate enough never to experience a student run newspaper capable of demonstrating such a deafening and profound lack of literary merit.
