With new releases this year from music juggernauts Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers some may think good new music releases for this year are over, but the reality its not. If you're a music fan, there is a lot to look forward to for the rest of 2006.

October 3rd was a big day for music releases as many popular bands are dropping some new material

One of the most highly anticipated releases for the fall is The Killers new album "Sam's Town." The album, which came out October 3rd, already has its first single on the radio called "When you were young." The new single has a classic Killers sound and deems well for the rest of the album. According to an interview in Rolling Stone magazine the new album, "represents the working-class people who actually live in Las Vegas." The name "Sam's Town" refers to a casino on the outskirts of Las Vegas where the band is from. In the article, in reference to the album title, vocalist and keyboard player Brandon Flowers said, "When I was a kid, we'd drive down the freeway and you'd see Sam's Town from miles away. You'd get closer and closer and it'd get bigger and bigger. It was a beacon, our center. I still feel that way." The 12-track album is the band's first since freshman effort "Hot Fuss" in 2004. With instant hits "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside" fans have been awaiting a new album and now its here. The Killers started their new tour in support of "When you were young" on October 6th. They come to the Orpheum Theater in Boston on October 26th.

Another album that came out on October 3rd is Beck's new release, "The Information," off of Interscope Records. The new album is 15 tracks long and will contain homemade in-studio videos for each of the songs. The CD will also come with sheets of stickers for custom album covers. According to an interview in Rolling Stone, "We're moving into a time when the song and imagery and video are all able to exist as one thing," said Beck. Beck's unique style keeps him atop of the charts and classics like "Where it's at," "Loser," and "Devil's Haircut" don't hurt his radio airplay either.
