The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team will host a Hockey East conference matchup against the No. 9 Northeastern University Huskies at the Whittemore Center on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Coming into the game UNH posts an overall record of 6-9-1 and a Hockey East record of 3-2-1, while Northeastern enters the game with an overall record of 8-4-2 and a Hockey East record of 4-3-1.

New Hampshire is coming of a tough string of defeats, as they come off last weekend's double-header against the No. 1 ranked Minnesota University 0-2. UNH was outscored by a commanding total of 14-2 during the matchup, and would like to rebound against a slumping Northeastern team.

The Wildcats are 2-0-1 in their last three games in Hockey East action, which includes a victory over heavyweight Boston University 4-2. New Hampshire has played well when at home and hosting a Hockey East opponent this season, as they hold a 2-1 record with wins against Boston University and Boston College.

The key players to watch out for in the UNH squad is freshmen standout Sara Carlson (8 points), Alexis Crossley (9 points), Junior Jessica Hitchcock (10 points), seniors Kristine Horn (9 points) and Kristina Lavoie (11 points), who returns for the 2012-13 season as the leader in career goals (48) and points (92) among active UNH players.

Northeastern on the other hand has played well on the road this season, posting a record of 3-1-0 but have dropped their past three games and most recently lost to Harvard this past Tuesday by a score of 3-1.

The Huskies have posted a record of 2-0-1 their past three games against the Wildcats, and have not lost to them since the beginning of 2011.

The key player to watch out for on the Northeastern squad is freshmen forward Kendall Coyne who leads the team in points with (25), tied for goals (12) and leads in assists with (13). Another player to watch out for is senior forward Casey Pickett who is tied in goals with (12) and is second on the team in points with (19).

Also, watch out for senior forward Rachel Llanes who is third on the team in points with (18).

Sophomore starting goaltender Chloe Desjardins sports an 8-4-2 record with a 2.23 goals against average and .923 save percentage that are both second in Hockey East. She is also currently No. 17 in the nation in goals against average and No. 15 in save percentage.

After the Saturday afternoon matchup against the Huskies, New Hampshire will finish the home and home set at Northeastern against the Huskies on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
