The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team looks to gain new ground this weekend as it faces off against the University of Connecticut in Hockey East action on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.

New Hampshire is 2-0 against the Huskies this season. UNH has yet to use home ice as an advantage this year however, as it has posted a 3-8-1 overall record thus far.

New Hampshire is coming off the previous weekend doubleheader from the University of Vermont where it split the series with the Catamounts 1-1. Vermont took the first game last Friday 3-1, but New Hampshire came back the following day with a solid 4-2 victory.

UNH has had a good enough conference play to the point where it could clinch a berth in this year's Hockey East tournament, but New Hampshire would need to finish in the top six within the conference.

In the matchup against UConn, the Wildcats are certainly favorites.

The Huskies have struggled over the course of the year with an overall record of 3-22-3 and a Hockey East record of 1-13-1. They are currently on a winless streak of 10 games and recently lost to Providence 4-3 in overtime.

Players to watch out for are forwards Kayla Camparo who leads team in points with (15), Michela Cava who leads team in goals (eight) and is second in points with (14).

Wildcat players to watch out for are forwards Kristina Lavoie who leads team in assists with (12) and points (19), and defensemen Alexis Crossley who is second on team with assists (10) and points (16).

After the 'Cats wrap up the weekend series of Hockey East fulfilled action they will travel to Providence next Friday night to take on the Friars. The puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
