There is more to UNH than just the campus. Lining Durham's Main Street are small businesses that have been a part of the UNH community for many years.

The main strip begins with Town and Campus, a store that has been a part of the UNH community for 50 years. It offers students a wide range of products.  It has a selection of office supplies as well as a small selection of UNH apparel.

A bit further down Main Street is Hayden's Sports. Hayden's is a great place to go for UNH swag as it has T-shirts that represent almost every sports team/club UNH has to offer.  Hayden's has a children's section and a framing shop in the back of the store.  Stationary, posters, and smaller items such as jewelry boxes or picture frames are just a few of the items available that can personalize your dorm room or apartment. Hayden's has been open in Durham since 1988.

For strictly shopping, Bindy's Boutique is located next to Tedeschi, formally Store 24, on Main Street.  It specializes in secondhand clothing and accessories for women. Each day, the boutique is restocked and only items that are in good condition are accepted. Bindy's also has a selection of formal wear for special events such as weddings or holidays.

Downtown Durham also has affordable dining options for the economical college student.

Young's Restaurant has been up and running in Durham for 89 years and offers breakfast and lunch menus. Young's also accommodates teams looking to dine together before or after games. Favorite options include the "Wildcat" breakfast sandwich or the "Bobcat" burger for lunch. Young's Restaurant is a staple of the UNH community.

For a quick fix, Franz's Food and Pauly's Pockets are ideal.  Franz's Food offers breakfast all day as well as sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Pauly's Pockets is known for its falafel and Middle Eastern cuisine.

If HoCo coffee is not cutting it, head to Breaking New Grounds. The walls are decorated with paintings by local artists and there are a handful of nooks and crannies where you can chat with friends. There is also a large selection of different flavors of coffee. BNG is staffed by UNH students and has a steady stream of regulars.

The Durham House of Pizza (D-Hop), Village Pizza, and Wildcat Pizza are hotspots for students, especially before and after hockey games.  JP's Eatery is right next to D-Hop and is great for subs.  Ambitious students attempt JP's infamous "Slap-Shot" eating contest each year.

Libby's Bar and Grill and Ballard's are two other food options along Main Street. Both have traditional American cuisine and a bar atmosphere. Ballard's offers outdoor seating and is a great place to watch a sports game.  Libby's is suitable for seated dining and prides itself on its "neighborhood atmosphere."

Whether it's out of necessity or just to get away from campus for a bit, downtown Durham has a lot to offer UNH students.
