Police investigate Gables assault possibly involving 'edged weapon'

University police are investigating an assault that allegedly occurred early Sunday morning at the Gables apartments. A 19-year-old male student who suffered cuts to his face and left arm and a broken nose in the incident has been treated and released from an area hospital. According to an alert issued around campus soon after the incident, the victim's wounds were "consistent with an edged weapon."

Police were originally alerted to the assault at 3:14 a.m. on Sunday. The victim first fought with a white male inside a Gables apartment and then was assaulted by three others outside the building. Two of the suspects outside the apartment were identified as white males, the other identified as a black male. 

As of Monday night, no arrests had been made. 

UNH police are asking that anyone with knowledge of the incident to call 862-1427 or report their information anonymously with the CrimePush mobile app
