The University of New Hampshire ROTC will be hosting its annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 5 in the Granite State Room of the MUB.
“It’s one of our bigger public events,” said Lieutenant Colonel Paul Webber of the army ROTC. “Essentially we’ll be present to honor past ROTC grads who’ve gone on to serve with distinction either in the nation, or the state of New Hampshire, or UNH in specific.”
The ROTC, who has been hosting the ceremony for the past decade, will be honoring and inducting into the ROTC hall of fame former NH governor Stephen E. Merrill, General Lori J. Robinson and Mark Sears this year.
“What [the ceremony] does is gives relevancy to a commitment to service,” Webber said. “We talk about service in class and what it means to join the [military] and do great things and these guys have done this - they’ve gone off from UNH and tried to change the world.”
The ceremony begins at 2:00 p.m. in the GSR and will conclude with a retiring of the colors ceremony at 4:30 p.m., which will be held at the flagpole on Thompson Hall lawn.
