Thatcher leads UNH in win over Providence

The UNH volleyball team beat out Providence this past Saturday, Oct. 20, 3-0, to take sole possession of second in America East play with a 5-2 conference record.
Junior captain Morgan Thatcher paced the Wildcats with a team-high 15 kills and a .387 killing percentage. Thatcher also recorded seven digs, and three blocking assists.
Freshman Victoria Forrest, coming off an America East Rookie of the Week award, recorded 10 kills, a .292 kill percentage, four assists, and 12 digs.
Sophomore Taylor Dunklau, who stepped in as the starting setter for captain Jansen Falcusan, recorded 38 assists, one serving ace, three digs, and one blocking assist.
Thatcher, Forrest, and Dunklau swept the weekly conference awards for their contributions, Thatcher taking America East Player of the week (her fourth on the year), Dunklau winning America East Setter of the week, and Forrest winning her second consecutive America East Rookie of the week.
The Wildcats return home this Friday, Oct. 26, to take on Binghamton, who possesses a 4-3 conference record and is 7-16 overall. UNH will also take on UMBC this Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. The Wildcats defeated both teams earlier in the season, 3-1 and 3-2 respectively.
Game time against Binghamton is 7 p.m. The game is also the Wildcats “Dig Pink” game, supporting breast cancer awareness. Dig Pink attire will be available for sale at the game. Contributions will also be taken at the door.
