When the UNH football team faces conference rival UMass next season in their annual matchup, it will be at neither Durham's Cowell Stadium nor McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Amherst.

The two schools reached a two-year verbal agreement to play at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., according to The Union Leader and sources at UMass. The game will be the first college football game played at the stadium, which is the home of the New England Patriots of the NFL and the New England Revolution of the MLS.

Next season's game is currently set for Oct. 23, with UNH playing as the "home" team; UMass will be the home team in the 2011 meeting.

The Minutemen won last season's matchup, 23-17, in Amherst, and hold a 43-26-3 lead over the Wildcats in the all-time series.

This game will be but one of several intriguing trips these teams will make next season. UNH will take on Big East power Pittsburgh on Sept. 11 at Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, while UMass will travel to Ann Arbor to face Michigan in 106,201-seat Michigan Stadium.

In addition to being the home of the Patriots and Revolution, Gillette Stadium has hosted the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Lacrosse Championships and the Massachusetts High School Football Super Bowls.
