The Wildcats volleyball team looks to put two tough conference road losses behind it as it travels to Rhode Island this Saturday to take on Providence for a second time.

The two teams first met back on Sept. 22 in what was the first conference match for both teams. The Wildcats dominated and took the game in decisive fashion, winning 3-0.

Since then, UNH has gone 3-2 in conference (12-10 overall, 4-2 in conference) while Providence is still seeking its first conference win (1-23 overall, 0-6 in conference).

Despite Providence’s losing record, the Friars have only played two of their 24 games at home this season. Last year Providence was 4-7 at home. The Wildcats are only 3-5 away from home this year, similar to last year’s mark of 6-7.

Last year, Providence split the season series with the Wildcats, losing at home 3-1 before battling out a tough win in Durham, 3-2.

Both teams are relatively young.

Providence has one senior compared to UNH’s two. The Friars round out their 10-person roster with four freshmen and five sophomores. The Wildcats have seven freshmen, four sophomores, and two juniors to complete their 15-person team.

While the Wildcats have more of a set rotation, the Friars have been tinkering with their smaller lineup throughout the season meaning the Wildcats could see different personnel and lineups than they did in their previous matchup.

Play starts between the two teams at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Providence.
