This is Granucci’s first time competing in the Miss New Hampshire competition.
Miss Deerfield Fair, Erica Millett, is a graduate of UNH. Her personal platform involves osteoporosis awareness and prevention.
“Knowing that osteoporosis is a preventable disease, and having multiple friends and family members who are affected by low bone mass is what sparked my interest in bone health,” she writes in her online profile. “With my health and wellness background, I know I can make a difference in the lives of people with osteoporosis.”
Millett’s career ambition is to obtain her master’s degree in physician’s assistant studies. In 2010, she received a grant to conduct research on mobility limitations among the elderly. As a result, she was selected to present her findings at the American College of Sports Medicine where she received multiple honors for her project.
Recently, her work was published in the Science Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology.
While some may think that competing against fellow wildcats would be awkward and weird, Silk loves it. She has competed and carpooled with Millett for a few years, and just met Granucci this season.
“They are so sweet,” Silk said. “We support each other, encourage each other, and have a lot of fun together.”
