Samsung Galaxy S6 With A Christmas Deal Or Wait For The Galaxy S7?

TNH Staff · December 31, 2015 · Leave a Comment

In February 2016, Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy S7 flagship, but for now, there is not enough information about the upcoming smartphone. The S6 was one of the best selling phones and Samsung is hoping to repeat this achievement with the successor. Below, we’ll tell you everything we’ve heard about its alleged specs and we’ll make a comparison with the current flagship.

Designs

The Galaxy S6 came with a shiny glass back made of Gorilla Glass 3, and the sides were protected with a metal frame. The flagship measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm and it’s relatively light at 138 grams. The Galaxy S7 is rumored to have a similar design, but the sides will be slightly curved as on the Galaxy Note 5, while the Edge version will be taller, according to the latest leaks.

Displays

The Galaxy S6 sports a Super AMOLED screen sized at 5.1-inch, which supports 1440 x 2560 pixels at 577 ppi and it’s protected against scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The S7 might come with a bigger 5.2-inch screen supporting either a QHD resolution, or even a 4K resolution. Other rumors suggest that the display will be foldable, but that remains to be seen.

Cameras

The Galaxy S6 kept the 16MP resolution for its rear camera and equipped it with OIS, autofocus, LED flash, a 1/2.6″ sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, and made it capable of recording 4K videos. The front camera needed a big improvement, and it was upgraded from 2MP to 5MP. The Galaxy S7 might introduce a new Duo Pixel technology, as the patent has already been filed by the South Korean manufacturer. But the resolution of the main camera might remain the same.

Hardware

The Galaxy S6 was launched with a revolutionary Exynos 7420 octa core processor consisting of four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores clocked at 2.1GHz, which defeated the Snapdragon 810 model. The Galaxy S7 will most likely use the next Exynos 8890 processor, but Samsung will release a second model which will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which might support 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

Batteries

The battery of the Galaxy S6 has a capacity of 2550 mAh and, on paper it offers 17 hours of talk time on 3G. The successor should come with a bigger battery that will offer a more satisfactory performance, but for now, there is no information related to its capacity.
