Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Have Been Leaked – When Should We Expect Them?

TNH Staff · December 31, 2015 · Leave a Comment

It seems that history will repeat and Samsung will bring a Galaxy S7 flagship along with an Edge version, but this time, this pair won’t have screens with the same diagonal, as according to the rumors, the S7 Edge will be a phablet with a 5.5-inch screen.

We’re approaching the moment when Samsung will finally unveil its new premium smartphones, but until then, we’ll settle for all the rumors and leaks that surface the internet. While both the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge came with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen supporting a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels at 577 ppi, the upcoming S7 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch display and the Edge variant will have a larger 5.5-inch screen.

This information comes from Shai Mizrachi, who obtained the alleged dimensions for both devices and posted them on Android Authority’s website. He got his hands on a 3D CAD render which is used by third party case manufacturers, and in the leaked image are placed side by side the Galaxy S7 Edge, S7 and S6, where you can see the measurements for the height and width of all three phones.

So, according to the drawing, the Galaxy S7 will be as tall and wide as the Galaxy S6, having a height of 143 mm and a width of 70.5mm, while the S7 Edge will be 151mm tall and will have a width of 73mm. Also, the new models will have slightly curved backs just like the Note 5, but not as prominent as that phablet. Since we don’t know yet anything about the thickness of the two new phones, we’re only hoping that Samsung will increase the battery capacity, because the unit from the S6 was quite disappointing.

As for the camera, it will be less protruding and will benefit from the new BRITECELL technology. Also, we don’t know if the new models will have the same glass and metal design, but we’ve noticed that the IR blaster is missing.
