WhatsApp vs. Snapchat – Best Mobile Messaging Application for Work

TNH Staff · January 5, 2016 · Leave a Comment

SMS marketing is taking a turn as mobile messaging applications such as WhatsApp or Snapchat are now the most used “tools” out there to keep in touch with your friends and family.

Snapchat

Since deep linking was introduced, Snapchat has become very popular among marketers that utilize the SMS message to advertise. Snapchat is now becoming more competitive with other social media platforms as the messaging platform is in a continuous expansion, where users are able to see live feeds, videos and other contents that were not available in the past for any mobile messaging application.

We’re pretty sure that all these new features make a lot of users happy, but at the same time, they become less active than before.

WhatsApp

On the other hand, the WhatsApp application comes with a “one-to-one” environment. According to GlobalWebIndex 2015 Q3 poll, WhatsAppers are more active than Snapchatters, as follows:

– Sharing Photos: WhatsApp 72% – Snapchat 47%
– Sending Messages: WhatsApp  89% – Snapchat 62%
– Sending Videos: WhatsApp 48% – Snapchat 36%.

WhatsApp has over 900 million monthly active users and the prospect of reaching 100% of their broadcasting lists, it’s almost clear that any big company will try to use WhatsApp as a marketing venue. The messages that you send on WhatsApp appear no different than family and friends and the messages are viewed within minutes.

Unlike popular social media applications, WhatsApp allows marketers to instantly interact with its customers and also allows the customers to be able to instantly react to those messages.

Using WhatsApp For Marketing Purposes

Small businesses can easily boost their sales by utilizing the WhatsApp application. They will need an employee that will be able to quickly respond to customers during the campaign. We remind you that back in 2013, an Israeli chocolate brand that goes by the name of Klik, saw a 10x rise in brand interaction and over 51% followers increase on their Facebook webpage, using just a single WhatsApp campaign for teens.

When you launch a campaign on WhatsApp, there are a few things that you should remember:

– Respond fast
– Try to be funny
– Don’t spam too much
– Update your profile as often as you can
– Be polite and respectful
– Respond to customer feedback and queries or else your clients might lose interest.
