Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. iPhone 8 – Rumors, Specs and News

TNH Staff · November 8, 2016 · Leave a Comment

The two tech giants are constantly battling over market shares and customer favor, with the newest and flashiest devices they release. The Samsung Galaxy line of handsets has been competing with Apple’s iPhone line for a very long time, and it looks that next year won’t be any different.

Even though each new season is important for both companies as both try to come up with the better device, the next installment in this ongoing face-off will have some extra weight, due to the recent events that caused both manufacturers to falter in sales.

For Apple, it was straight up poor sales and an incapability to offer something fresh worth paying the steep price they charge. Samsung on the other hand was severely hindered by the events that occurred with its Galaxy Note 7 flagship, which has been reported to explode, needing to be called back. Both companies need the next installment in their flagship series to redeem their names, and so both are expected to bring something big to the table, so let’s take a look at what each device can offer.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be pulling a few pages out of Apple’s book, as the device is speculated to copy Apple’s initiative for the iPhone 8 which is suggested to be the first in the line’s history that will not feature a Home button. Also, Samsung might be getting rid of the Jack audio port as Apple did with its current generation iPhone, the iPhone 7.

The Samsung S8 Edge will allegedly sport a 4K screen of 5.5 inches, which will compete with Apple’s Retina technology.

The iPhone 8 is said to come with 32, 128 and 256 GB options for internal storage, while the S8 will apparently feature 64 and 256 GB versions, which can be boosted through using a microSD card.

In terms of cameras, the iPhone 8 will come with a 12 MP rear camera, complemented by an 8 MP front lens, but that won’t be enough if the rumors are true and Samsung will pack the Galaxy S8 with a 16 MP rear lens and a 12 MP front shooter.

It’s still going to be a while before we get our hands on any of these devices, but so far they both look promising in terms of features.
