Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Gets November Security Update

TNH Staff · November 10, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Unlocked models of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are reportedly receiving the November security update in Italy, but soon, users from other European countries will receive this update in the next days. This past weekend, T-Mobile has rolled out the latest set of security patches to Samsung’s flagships and a global follow was to be expected.

Samsung already offered some information about the changes that users should expect in the latest security bulletin, saying that it will include the monthly Android Security Bulletin patches from Google and patches for 14 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE). The software comes with version G935FXXU18PJG and build number MMB29K and currently, it’s pushed out to the unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F) from Europe.

The update will not be available to all users instantly, as it is being rolled out in phases, so if you live in Italy and you haven’t received the notification yet, you should manually check for the update by going to your device’s Settings menu and tapping About Deivice, then Download Updates Manually. The update rolled out by T-Mobile for the Galaxy S7 weighted in at 81.96MB and it’s still unclear if the download size for the unlocked version of the flagship in Europe is the same.

We remind you that soon, Samsung will launch an Android Nougat beta test program for these two devices in the US, UK, South Korea, and China and in order to take part in the beta, users will install the Galaxy Beta Program app from the Galaxy Apps Store. The company will introduce its new UX that will look totally different than TouchWiz UI. The sign-ups will go live today, on November 9 and everyone from the aforementioned countries is free to join. The beta program may be buggy, so it’s recommendable to back up your data, in case the software will cause problems that could lead to the loss of your files.
