The latest version of Google’s Android operating system is a feature every smartphone manufacturer wants to get their hands on at the moment. Being the latest version, it is also the best in terms of performance and stability, and of course, in terms of features.
Moreover, the consumers that have bought smartphones pertaining to different brands now await the moment when their device will be awarded with the sought-after update. Not all devices will receive it, as each time Google releases a new Android version, a list of eligible devices is composed. Devices lucky enough (or competent enough) to make the list will eventually get the new firmware, while the rest of available handsets will strike deep provocative thoughts of smartphone upgrades to their owners.
Motorola is a manufacturer that knows both sides of the story, as it has devices which have received the update as well as devices that have not. There have been slim chances for the Moto G line of handsets to make the cut for an update from the very beginning but in the months to pass, Moto G owners started hoping more and more that they might be in luck.
The Moto Z and Moto Z Force have recently been updated to feature Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat, which left Moto G users with mixed feelings, not knowing if this is a sign that their update is on the way or that it’s not coming.
Many believe that the G line is next with the Moto G4 , Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play, since it would be the logical next step in terms of hardware capabilities after the Z line. Motorola might still give G4 users the Nougat update by the end of December, which means they have one more month of hoping before the Nougat door finally close down.
