We’ve all been extremely eager to go to a new restaurant to try out their food only to arrive there and be shrouded in disappointment because the place was packed and go through an hour-long wait just to sit at a table, notwithstanding the food preparation process which lasts just as much.
Google Maps has got us covered by releasing a new update which will tell anybody to what extent a restaurant is busy in real time. Going out to have dinner has never been easier taking into account that no-reservation restaurants were a pain to deal with especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
They’ve done that in the past with a “Popular Times” feature in which restaurant listings would pop up wherever one would look it up. The scales have tilted and now Google Maps users are able to take it even a step further as the new update will tell them in real time how many places are free at a desired restaurant.
Take into account that one will have to have Location Services turned on so that Google can collect the desired information. Real-time smartphone location data will be transferred into Google Maps which has a crowd estimate built-in algorithm which enables your device to make precise measurements in order to make sure that everybody is able to sit at the table and enjoy a nice dinner for whatever occasion.
One has to bear in mind that having Location Services turned on and constantly browsing Google Maps for a place to it will put a heavy strain on the battery so make sure it is fully charge when taking such decision. Say goodbye to those days in which you would’ve needed to go to one restaurant to another in search of a table or get bluntly refused when wanting to make a reservation with no prior notice.
Feeling hungry and not finding a place to eat is now a thing of the past thanks to Google Maps, and notwithstanding the sector in which the update was implemented, we are looking forward to more ways of technology helping us in our day to day lives.
