Candy Crush Saga Tips and Tricks for Beginners

TNH · February 5, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably already heard of Candy Crush Saga, the popular and intensely addictive game that has thousands of people hooked. But just because you’ve heard of it doesn’t automatically mean that you’ve played it. In fact, you might have recently decided to download the game into your smartphone or tablet! There’s definitely nothing wrong with this — you might be a bit late to the party, but there’s still time to catch up.

One way to do this is to learn about the tricks that will help you gain a high score and climb up levels quickly. Die-hard Candy Crush fans already know about these techniques and may dismiss them as “too simple”, but they’re the building blocks of success that beginners should master. We’ve listed some of these tips and tricks below:

  1. Always go beyond threes

Candy Crush requires you to match at least three sweets together to increase your score and complete missions. The key phrase there is “at least”: nothing’s stopping you from matching four to five candies, so why not go for it? Doing this is the best way to gain cool bonus candies that will help you boost your score.

Matching four candies produces striped sweets, which take out a whole row or column of candies. Matching five candies in a straight line results to a chocolate ball that removes all candies of the same color from the board, while matching five candies forming a “T” or “L” produces a wrapped candy that explodes and destroys the sweets surrounding it.

  1. Use your bonus candies

Once you earn striped candies or chocolate balls, don’t let them go to waste! Analyze your next moves so you can make the most of these bonuses and maximize the amount of score you get.

  1. Ignore game recommendations

When you don’t make a move right away, you might notice a few candies blinking, indicating that they can be matched. You can decide to follow this recommendation but, in most cases, you shouldn’t pay attention to it. This comes from the fact that it’s usually just a random advice from the game and is not necessarily the best move for you to take. Unless you’re completely out of moves, ignore the flashing candies and look for other options.

  1. Change your device’s date

Unless you’re a Candy Crush Saga expert, you’re bound to use up all of your lives at some point. You can buy additional lives, wait until you get more lives, or mooch some from your Facebook friends. But, if you don’t want to do any of these, the next-best thing you can do is to change the date on your smartphone or tablet to a future date. This “confuses” the Candy Crush Saga app and causes it to give you extra lives. Just take note that changing your device’s date can also alter the alarms and reminders you’ve made.

These are just some of the tips and tricks you should know about when playing Candy Crush Saga for the first time. Keep them in mind and have fun time matching and destroying sweets!
