The Patch Tuesday this month brings good news, since it comes together with a couple of system improvements for every version of Windows. The update also works on improving the overall security for the Windows OS.
Availability
The update KB4014329 is dedicated to the Adobe Flash Player tool and is available for the supported versions of the Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 and the 2016 one, being part of the specific cumulative update for each one of them. According to Microsoft, the update is critical, so it is highly recommended that you install it.
Changes and upgrades
The KB4014329 deals with security vulnerabilities that existed in the Adobe Flash Player libraries on certain browsers, such as Internet Explorer 10, Internet Explorer 11, plus the Microsoft Edge one. As such, if you are one of the users of one of these libraries, then you should totally install the update.
In fact, this update is a replacement for the previous security one for the Player, dubbed MS17-005. If you didn’t install the previous version, you will receive the security improvements that were added with that one now too.
Why do we even need regular security updates?
The reason behind this need is quite simple: Flash Player is one of the Windows components that brings lots of trouble, and as a consequence it’s a regular target for cyber attacks. As such, both companies, Microsoft and Adobe, are trying hard to keep up with all the malicious developments. For this reason, they are regularly releasing security updates that make the users as safe as they can be, or at least until hackers discover another vulnerability and try to exploit it.
