It seems that Google is up to big things for at least a couple years to come from now, and we couldn’t be more excited. The latest news that stirred up the tech world is related to the launch of Pixel 3. Yep, not Pixel 2, but 3. With the first-generation Pixel model still being produced, it seems Google has already mapped out their future for the following two years, and so the Pixel 3 should be expected sometime during 2018. We’re very excited to see Google so committed to the future of their flagship phone, and it seems manufacturers are as well.
HTC Now Has Some Serious Competition
Taiwanese electronics company HTC is known to currently have a two-year contract with Google to manufacture the first installment in the Pixel series, as well as the Pixel 2 that is set to be launched sometimes this year in two variants, the Muskie and the Walleye. However, it’s still not known if HTC contract will be renewed and the company will also produce the Pixel 3. There are chances that it won’t, so others have quickly jumped on the bandwagon and stirred up some heavy competition for the Taiwanese producer.
Among interested parties we can find LG, TCL and Coolpad, who are all now competing with HTC to get a spot on the production line of Google’s third device in their Pixel flagship. Google has also been known for giving a contract to several manufacturers, as it has with the Nexus device line, which in 2012 had five manufacturers on the pay roll. While HTC has the benefit of seniority, it is rumored that LG is the preferred candidate for the Pixel 3. We’ll just have to wait and see how this whole situation pans out.
