Exciting has been building up around the upcoming release of Android O, with the first developer preview being released recently for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Pixel and Pixel C smartphones. Many are left wondering what the mobile operating system will finally be (Android O is just the working title of the project), and if it will keep up with Google’s sweet track record. With the first preview already bringing along major updates on the 21st of March 2017, the second preview is already announced to be rolled out sometime in May, although no specific date has been revealed yet.
New Video Featuring Google’s Nasir Khan Published
Alongside the news, a new video featuring Google’s Nasir Khan has also been published, and it seems to be aimed specifically at developers. The video is about 6 minutes long and shares many exciting facts about Android O. For instance, in the video, Nasir Khan states that background services will run minimally with Android O. One of the new features will include an alert when an app is being displayed on top of another one, giving users the ability to turn it off from the notification itself. This is excellent news for those of us tired of navigating through app settings all the time.
On top of that, Android O will also have other great features, according to Android Police. For example, the OS will support Wi-Fi “Neighborhood Aware Networking” together with Google Safe Browsing for WebViews and an API for autofillers. And, to make everything more fun and cheerful, a new animation design will pop up every time you open or close the notification shade. This will surely make for a playful user interface that will make you love your smartphone even more.
