With Samsung having recently launched the new Galaxy S8 in two variants, the standard and the Plus, a desire for comparisons between it and its main contender, the Huawei P10 Plus has appeared among smartphone enthusiasts. And all for good reason, considering that Huawei is known for constantly pushing out budget-friendly devices that are comparable to Apple and Samsung’s best. According to many sources, when comparing the Galaxy S8 Plus and the Huawei P10 Plus, one certainly stands out. Keep reading to find out which one!
Design
A quick side by side comparison of the two phones will clearly set apart the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus as the clear winner in the design category. This doesn’t mean that the Huawei P10 Plus is an ugly phone by any means, but it does highlight the fact that its design is quite boring and outdated. On the opposite side of the scale, the new Galaxy S8 Plus is perhaps the most aesthetically-pleasing phone on the market, with its curves that remind us of the former Edge models. And, on top of that, the lack of the Home button improved the appearance of its front side tremendously.
Specs
However, as far as performance is concerned, both phones are almost equally good. While the Huawei has better cameras, the rest is comparable in quality. The P10 Plus runs on Huawei in-house processor, the Kirin 960, aided by 6GB of RAM. The Samsung, while it runs on the more popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, it has only 4 GB of RAM. However, these two combinations deliver an almost identical performance, so both phones are good as far as specs go.
While both phones have SD-support, the Huawei can go up to 128GB, and the Samsung to just 64GB. The P10 Plus is not water resistant, while the Galaxy S8 Plus is. And, on top of that, the Samsung comes with iris scanning and facial recognition features, as well as the ability to support two headsets at once. Therefore, the winner has to be the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, with the mention that it out-performs the Huawei P10 Plus only by a little.
