How to Use WhatsApp on Your iPad in 5 Simple Steps

TNH Staff · April 24, 2017 · Leave a Comment

It’s no secret that WhatsApp is everyone’s favorite instant messaging app. If you’re a regular WhatsApp user, you might know there’s no official way to use WhatsApp on an iPad, or on any tablet for that matter. However, as with most things, there is one way to cheat around this. If you want to learn how to use WhatsApp on your iPad just as you would on your phone, keep reading.

How to Use WhatsApp on Your iPad

WhatsApp is truly one of the most beloved apps of its kind, but the downside to it is that it’s available only on smartphones. However, thanks to the newer feature of using it on your browser, you can now also use the app in this way on your tablet. Here’s how.

Step 1. Open the Safari web browser app on your iPad.

Step 2. Go to web.whatsapp.com.

Step 3. Access the favorites menu by tapping on the URL and swiping down; this should reveal the ‘Load desktop site’ option, and you need to tap on it.

Step 4. You need to do this because the website on tablets first displays the WhatsApp home page, not the WhatsApp Web interface. After this, the page should reload with the well known WhatsApp Web interface with the scannable QR code.

Step 5. Go to Settings > WhatsApp Web in your WhatsApp app on your iPhone and scan the code. That’s it! Now you can enjoy WhatsApp on your tablet.

This little trick is neat way to work around the fact that WhatsApp doesn’t offer an iPad-friendly version of the app. However, the unfortunate part is that it’s not an official way to do it. This is why we hope that WhatsApp will soon provide apps for the iPad as well. We’ll just have to wait and see when and how that happens.
