Subaru Ascent 2019 SUV before the LA Auto Show

TNH Staff · November 22, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Subaru has posted on its SNS accounts images of the newest SUV made especially for the United States: the all-new 3-row 2019 Subaru Ascent. The new SUV will make its debut on the 28th of November at the LA Auto Show.

Subaru has a long history of SUV vehicles

The Japanese company has been selling Forester, the small SUV vehicle for twenty years.  Subaru B9 Tribeca was the first mid-size SUV manufactured by the Japanese auto manufacturer, ten years ago. Three years ago, the Tribeca model has been discontinued due to its lack of popularity. In 2014 only 1,000 Tribeca SUVs were sold and in the US, the manufacturer moved less than 80,000 units.

Subaru Tribeca had a boxer engine and all-wheel drive, but for some reason, the Americans were not impressed.

Subaru Ascent: a new concept

The Ascent model was previewed at the New York International Auto Show and it was received positively. The model will me made exclusively for the North American market and the production will be revealed at the end of November. The LA Auto Show is the proper place to make a strong debut. The company has created the Ascent model because there was not a crossover model to offer and the demand has increased in recent years. After all, all businesses make profits if they follow the consumers’ needs.

There are not many details posted, just a few teasing images. It is known that the Ascent model will have an all-new turbocharged direct injection boxer engine. Most connoisseurs are certain that the engine will be a 2.4-liter four-cylinder able to produce 300 horsepower.

A big plus is also the size of the SUV. The third row will make it possible to seat seven passengers, which is a big plus for families.
