TNH Staff · October 22, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Google has just rolled out the Android 7.1 Nougat developer preview beta and some of you Nexus device owners will soon get it if you’re enrolled in the Android Beta Program.

The devices that will be getting the Android 7.1 Nougat developer preview are Nexus 5X, 6P and the Pixel C. The brand new smartphones from Google, the Pixel and the Pixel XL already come with a pre-loaded Android 7.1 Nougat and if you have seen them you might have noticed the new circular icons and the fact that you can now swipe up from the bottom in order to get a quick view of your apps.

The Android 7.1 Nougat comes with many other improvements to the latest OS from Google, Android 7.1 Nougat and the highly anticipated Daydream VR platform which will enable users to enjoy 360-degree media when combined with a specific headset.

The final build for the update will come in December, after Google gets feedback from the developers who will most certainly install and test out the beta preview. Naturally, developers are also encouraged to adapt their apps to this upgraded OS and to the virtual reality platform.

It’s worth mentioning that the 7.1 Nougat update will also come with support for image keyboards, sticker and gif support and a new restart button in the power menu. Overall, Google has confirmed that the update has more than 250 major features that relate to productivity, improved power management, improved security and more personalization options.

Now, if we got you interested in this, and you happen to own one of the aforementioned devices, then all you have to do is wait for the beta to come to you. Or you could just buy a Pixel XL and see what it’s all about. However, you should know that all of the 128GB Pixel XL variants have sold out at Verizon so you should probably hurry up and get it while it’s still available at other stores.
