How-To: Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Beta Update Now Available

TNH Staff · January 2, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Samsung is usually among the last major OEMs to roll out updates when it comes to Android mobile operating system.

However, it seems there are going to be improvements, or rather changes this year, just like there were with the devices that were released in 2015 as well.

Just recently, Samsung announced that it will be releasing a beta version of the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow to owners of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge living in the home country of the company as well as the UK. The beta version is already here, and if you like to have a look at it, then you’ve come to the right place.

The following section will apparently affect dwellers of the UK or South Korean, who also own the current Samsung Galaxy smartphone flagships. However, be warned that the current version is still in beta and as such, it may have some performance and stability issues as compared to the previous Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Something else you need to note is that you need to have the unlocked version of either phone of specific model numbers SM-G925F or SM-G920F. To check this, go to the phone’s Settings and tap on About Device.

The next process entails determining the BTU product code of your current firmware. This will need you to head to the Play Store and download an app known as Device Info app and after installation, swipe to Firmware section and from here, you can see the product code. If this code is present, go ahead and download the Galaxy Care app from the Play Store.

Launch the app and once you are past the welcome screen, keep swiping until you come across “Participate Galaxy Beta Program” option or rather a tab. Tap on the Join button and then tap on the Registration button on the lower end of the screen. You will have to agree to the terms if you want to install this Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta on your Galaxy S6. You will get an option to download the new OS on your device at some point during the day.

Samsung has availed the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow to some owners of Galaxy S6 living in Hungary, but lots of other areas are still on the waiting list. Sooner than later, this update will be on your device, but if you feel like not waiting for any longer, there you have it – a simple guide!
