Moto G3 Upgraded To Android 6.0 Marshmallow – How To Install The Update

TNH Staff · January 5, 2016 · Leave a Comment

The third generation Moto G, which was released in July 2015 with Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box is expected to be upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The users in India have been announced by Motorola that they will receive the latest operating system in short time.

The announcement was posted on Motorola’s Twitter account and it targets the Indian users who own a Moto G3 mid-range smartphone. And this is what it was written in the tweet: “Here is something new and amazing for your Moto G (3rd Gen.), the Android 6.0 Marshmallow!”

Unfortunately, Motorola hasn’t specified the exact date of the rollout, but we’re guessing that it won’t take more than a month to see Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed on the Moto G3 devices from India. The update has 2GB in size and it brings new features such as Doze, a mode that will extend the battery life, Google Now on Tap, whose functionality was extended and now it “reads” emails that you receive from your friends and if it recognizes the title of a movie, it provides detailed Cards with information about that specific movie, such as the option to see the trailer etc. Also, the new OS has simpler volume control and the users can remove the “Migrate” and “Assist” apps.

When the time will come, the users will be notified that they can install the update, but if that won’t happen, they will be able to manually check for it by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.

As for the Moto G3, the device is made of plastic and it looks like the Moto X 2015, featuring diagonal lines across the back, and a vertical strip on the middle, which contains the camera and the logo. The body is water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes, the screen measures 5-inch and it’s an IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at 294 ppi. The processor is not very fast, but it offers a decent performance, as Motorola has chosen the Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU which is backed by 1GB of RAM. The rear camera isn’t extraordinary either, although it has a high resolution of 13MP, while the front camera supports 5MP. The battery has a capacity of 2470 mAh and it doesn’t last have a very long lifespan.
