iPhone 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – What Upgrade Should We Make?

The iPhone 7 has been unveiled by Apple a few days ago, while the Galaxy S7 Edge has hit the stores in March 2016, becoming Samsung’s salvation until the disaster with the Note 7. So, if you’re interested in buying the new iPhone 7, which came with a few upgrades, but at the same time, you’re tempted to buy an Android phablet with a dual-edge screen, then we’ll help you take the best decision.

Designs

The iPhone 7 measures 138.3×67.1×7.1mm and weights 138 grams. Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 6S, it comes with two new variants of blacks, the radio antennas are no longer located on the top and bottom of the back, but on the edges, and the 3.5mm headphone jack has been replaced and users are listening to music using earbuds. The Galaxy S7 Edge is thicker and heavier, as it measures 150.9×72.6×7.7mm and weights 157 grams, but its back is made of glass and the screen is curved on both sides.

Displays

The iPhone 7 comes with a LED-backlit IPS LCD display of 4.7-inch that supports a resolution of 1334×750 pixels at 326 ppi and is protected by an ion-strengthened glass. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a bigger super AMOLED display of 5.5-inch that supports a higher resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 534 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The iPhone 7 features an Apple A10 Fusion chipset, a quad-core processor, a six-core graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7 Edge comes in two variants, as follows:

– Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 Octa
– Processor: dual-core Kryo processor clocked at 2.15GHz and a dual-core Kryo processor clocked at 1.6GHz or a quad-core Mongoose processor clocked at 2.3GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.6GHz
– Graphics Card: Adreno 530 or Mali-T880 MP12
– RAM: 4GB of RAM.

Storages

The iPhone 7 has been released in three internal storage variants of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB, but you will need to be careful which variant you purchase as you will NOT be able to expand it. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Edge comes in two internal storage variants of 32GB and 64GB which you can expand up to 256GB using a microSD card.

Cameras

The iPhone 7 sports a primary camera of 12MP that features OIS, quad-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, geo-tagging, panorama, HDR, touch focus and a secondary camera of 7MP. The Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a primary camera of 12MP that features OIS, LED flash, phase detection autofocus, geo-tagging, panorama, auto HDR and a secondary camera of 5MP.

Batteries

The iPhone 7 is powered by a non-removable battery of 1960 mAh, which weaker than the non-removable battery of 3600 mAh that the Galaxy S7 Edge has.
