OnePlus hasn’t announced any upcoming smartphones at the Mobile World Congress, but this hasn’t stopped rumors and leaks to show up.
The first assumption is that the new smartphone might be called OnePlus 5 and this is because of the fact that the Chinese consider the number 4 to be the bearer of bad luck. Android Police reported that OnePlus might have a “dark announcement” regarding a midnight black color option of the new upcoming phone.
Let’s see what other features the new phone might come with.
Hardware specs
The next generation OnePlus might be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, a processor built with 10nm manufacturing process, the same one that Samsung has used for its latest products. Rumors say that OnePlus 5 might be a bit inspired by Samsung’s Galaxy S8’s dual-curved edges.
OnePlus 5’s handset is expected to have a display of 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED; there are other leaks that claim it will jump straight to WQHD – 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It might also have a galss/ceramic back. The device would run on Android 7.0 Nougat with Oxygen OS ski, according to GizmoChina.
The newest OnePlus might come with 8 GB RAM and built-in storage of 64 GB which would be expandable via a microSD card slot. Some rumors say it will be powered by a 3000 mAH battery, but Android Headline’s reports indicate a possible 4000 mAh one.
We might expect the phone in five color options including black, white, gold, ceramic and blue.
GizmoChina gives us some hints regarding OnePlus 5’s main camera that might feature a retina flash and 23-megapixels, while the selfie-camera might be a 16 MP one. The latest OnePlus might also have wireless charging and UBS Type-C port.
Princing & release date
The OnePlus 5 price is expected to vary from $400 to $500 according to storage.
Based on its previous releases, we expect the OnePlus 5 to be announced sometime this May or June, but if it lands too late on the market, it might miss a large amount of sales, as the Galaxy S8, HTC 11 and LG G6 are going to hit the stores.
