Nexus 5X Problems caused by Android 7.0 Nougat Update

TNH Staff · September 22, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Right after Google has launched Android 7.0 Nougat n August 22, the new operating system started rolling out to the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Users were very excited about the new features that included split-screen mode, bundled notifications, quick reply and many more. But, the problem is that the new version of Android is giving the Nexus 5X users headaches, and some of them have reported that their devices are randomly rebooting, even multiple times in the same day.

The Nexus 5X was released last fall, being one of the two smartphones that were built for Google. This model was created by LG, while the phablet was manufactured by Huawei, but the latter had more powerful hardware and didn’t encounter any problems with the new firmware. On the other hand, the Nexus 5X wasn’t too suited to run rich graphics apps and games and it started rebooting.

Users have tried a factory reset, but the issue wasn’t solved and Google has admitted that the reboot problem is related to hardware, but it didn’t affect all devices. Apparently, Nougat has exposed a pre-existing hardware fault and this is why when users open apps or games, their devices reboot. Google has recommended those who are experiencing this problem to take their affected Nexus 5X phones to the nearest repair shop and use the warranty so they won’t pay anything.

“If you purchased your Nexus 5X on the Google Store, contact us for information about refunds, exchanges, or repairs. Your satisfaction is important to us and we want to help. If you purchased your phone directly from Project Fi, call 1-844-Talk-2-Fi for information about refunds, exchanges, or repairs. If you didn’t purchase your Nexus 5X on the Google Store, visit the LG website at www.lg.com. You may be covered by LG’s limited manufacturer’s warranty,” has told Google to users who are dealing with the reboot issue.
