Android Lollipop Most Needed Tips and Tricks – Learn your Way Through this OS

TNH Staff · January 5, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is here, but there are still many devices that run on the Android Lollipop. Today we’re going to talk about the top 5 tips and tricks that you can use on Android Lollipop.

Developer Options

By default, the “Developer Options” is not enabled in Android Lollipop. However, you can enable this feature in order to tweak the system, improve its performance and have access to many diagnostics. In order to enable the “Developer Options” feature, you will have to go to your mobile device’s Settings->About Phone and tap on the “Build Number” seven times, very fast. Once you do to this, you will be able to head to Settings->Developer Options and access all the options that this feature comes with.

Lock Screen Security

The Android Lollipop OS comes with many options that you can use to lock your device. You will be able to lock/tablet your phone by using a PIN or password, pattern or even more awesome options such as “Trusted Faces”, “Trusted Devices” or “Trusted Places”. Whatever lock screen you will want to use, first you must set it up.

By using the “Trusted Faces” unlock option, you will be able to unlock the device by just showing your face, which is quite awesome.

Playing The Hidden Game

Android Lollipop comes with a hidden game which can be accessed by going to the device’s Settings->About Phone and tapping four times on the “Android Version”. Once you do this, you will notice a big lollipop on your screen and by tapping and holding on, you will start playing a “Flappy Bird” type of game featuring an Android mascot.

Disabling The “Old” Email Application

We’re not sure why Google has decided to keep the “old” useless email application in Android Lollipop. When you will launch it for the first time, a big splash screen will inform you that Gmail is now handling all the Email service and you can check the box to launch Gmail app instead. We suggest you to disable the old Email application forever by going to your device’s Settings->Apps->All Tab, search for Email app and disable it.

Improving The Battery Life

As soon as you have Android 5.0 Lollipop installed on your mobile device, we suggest you to go to Settings->Battery and tap on the action overflow button from the top-right side. Finally, tap on the “Battery Saver”, enable it and pick your default battery life point from 5% to 15% (we suggest you to leave it at 15%). This feature will greatly improve the battery life of your device, but in order to do this, it will disable some of the features and options that your mobile device comes with.
