When Apple has released its iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus last year, they didn’t have something to prove as we all know that the iPhone flagships are already dominant in the market. However, soon after that, Microsoft has released its Lumia 950, a smartphone that runs on Windows 10 Mobile and it was seen by many as a true competitor for the iPhone.
Both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus hit the markets before Lumia 950, which gave them a head start. However, that didn’t matter on November 20, 2015, when the Lumia 950 was finally released.
Today we’re going to compare these two smartphones and let you decide which one you prefer to use.
iPhone 6S vs. Microsoft Lumia 950: Design
The iPhone 6S looks pretty similar to its predecessor, but if you look closely, you will notice that the device is a bit thicker than the previous model. This is mostly because the new 3D Touch technology that was incorporated into its display. The iPhone 6S comes with a 4.7-inch Retina Display, which is the same one that’s found on the iPhone 6. Using the 3D Touch technology, you can use the pressure-sensitive display to access different options.
On the other hand, the Lumia 950 device comes with a poly-carbonate body, which allows you to have a better grip. At the same time, it comes with a removable back cover, a 5.2-inch AMOLED display that supports a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The device has a protruding camera on the back side along with a dedicated camera key to one side.
iPhone 6S vs. Microsoft Lumia 950: Processor & RAM
The iPhone 6S is the most powerful iPhone until now and it comes with an A9 chipset that’s formed by a dual-core Twister processor clocked at 1.84GHz, which is said that is 70% more powerful and efficient than its predecessor. This processor is “accompanied” by 2GB of RAM, which makes this device pretty powerful.
On the other hand, Microsoft’s Lumia 950 is powered by A Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset which consists of a quad-core Cortex A53 clocked at 1.44GHz and a dual-core Cortex A57 clocked at 1.82GHz. This powerful chipset is backed by 3GB of RAM, which will make navigating through different applications very smoothly. Unfortunately, the Windows 10 Mobile still has a lot of bugs, which is a big minus for this device, but this will be solved in the near future.
iPhone 6S vs. Microsoft Lumia 950: Camera & Storage
Apple has improved the iSight camera on the iPhone 6S. The rear camera has been upgraded to a 12MP sensor while the front camera has now 5MP. The primary camera from the iPhone 6S does some awesome shots, but Lumia 950’s high-end 20MP PureView camera is way better. The secondary camera that the Lumia 950 comes with has 5MP and is has almost similar performances to the secondary camera from the iPhone 6S.
When it comes to storage, the iPhone 6S comes in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB of internal storage variants, while the Lumia 950 has only 32GB of internal storage, but it can be expanded up to 200GB with the help of a microSD card.
iPhone 6S vs. Microsoft Lumia 950: Battery & Price
The iPhone 6S comes with a battery of only 1715mAh, but thanks to the iOS 9, the power efficiency has been improved a lot. Unfortunately, the iPhone 6S might not be able to last a day, but if you use it carefully, the device might not die until you reach a place where you can charge it.
The Lumia 950 comes with a big battery of 3000 mAh, but let’s not forget that it also features a display that is 0.5-inches bigger than the one found on the iPhone 6S. According to the battery tests, the device will be able to last a day even if you are using it intensively.
The iPhone 6S is using the same pricing strategy as its predecessor and you can buy it at the following prices:
– 16GB model – 650 dollars
– 32GB model – 750 dollars
– 128GB model – 850 dollars.
You can purchase the Lumia 950 device at a premium price of 650 dollars, but the downside is that this device is sold exclusively by AT&T (for now).
