Whether you’re an avid Microsoft fan or someone who’s interested in hybrid computers, you’re probably looking forward to the release of the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2. But what exactly will these two new devices bring about? And when will they see the light of day?
Specifications
Microsoft’s upcoming devices will reportedly be two of the most powerful products in the market. The Surface Pro 5, for instance, will have the Windows 10 operating system, an Intel Kaby Lake processor, and 16GB of RAM. It’s also expected to have 4K display, a 16MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera, along with better battery life and improved cooling technology.
The Surface Book 2 will also have Kaby Lake as its processor and will reportedly run on the new Windows 10 Redstone 2 update, which will bring about exciting features such as Office Hub and OneClip. It will have 4K display along with USB 3.1 support.
Release Date
Microsoft has not made any official announcement about the release dates of the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2. However, tech experts expect that these two new devices will be announced during a Microsoft event that would be held in October. They also assume that the products would be available to purchase in early 2017.
This might seem like a long way off for those who are eager to get their hands on the Surface Pro 5 or the Surface Book 2. But the delay is necessary since Intel is not yet ready to roll out its Kaby Lake processors, which power the two new devices. Intel has confirmed that Kaby Lake will be available in the latter part of 2016; considering that Microsoft needs time to install the processors in the hybrid tablets, it’s easy to see why the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 would be available next year.
