The next two runner-ups are Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge. The three of them are completely free of charge and considering the fact that Microsoft Edge is fairly new to the game and there is some room for improvement despite being available just for Windows 10 users, there is some room for improvement as it is shaping to become a great browser.
A recent study developed by NSS Labs highlighted that the Redmond tech giant’s web browser is currently the best browser to have in terms of safety when put head to head with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
As web browsers are widely believed to be the first line of defense when it comes to malicious software prevention, Microsoft Edge’s “SmartScreen” tool was able to block 99% of malware while the runner-ups were Google Chrome with 85.8% and Firefox with 78.3%.
Microsoft Edge is enjoying a Sandbox Mode which is basically a security tool which has the role of devising the browser’s components into separate divisions such as tabs, windows and plug-ins. In case of any malicious attack if any part of it is infected, it will not spread to other components of the browser.
In terms of updates, Microsoft Edge does these additions a little bit differently as they rolled out at the same time Windows 10 receives updates thus the fact that they are a little bit slow to be implemented as opposed to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox constantly releasing constant security updates.
