Both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T have recently received the new beta updates designed for them. Needless to say, they are filled with new features, even a completely new launcher, similar to the one used for Google Pixel. Besides, the devices will also enjoy a swipe-up gesture on the app drawer and some new launcher shortcuts.
Update features
The official name of the update is OxygenOS Open Beta 13 – for OnePlus 3. For OnePlus 3T, the name is Open Beta 4. After installing the update, you should see the network speeds that are now shown in the status bar. Moreover, another new feature is the UI designed for launcher settings. You can also access it if you pinch the home screen. There is also the new automatic Night Mode, which is really useful.
The team also redesigned the app drawer, so now you enjoy a feature called notification denoising. Basically, the notifications are prioritized and you won’t get flooded by unnecessary ones. There is also a new Do Not Disturb mode made for gaming, some fixes for latency on touch issues and an optimized EIS for videos. Moreover, the update brings a file safe named Secure Box, which is secured only by a PIN for now, but presumably the developers will add fingerprint support later on.
Contacts received linking and functions for merging, and the Indian users got a quick pay feature that relies on a QR code. The latter can be activated through a long press for the home button that becomes a payment shortcut.
People who are already enrolled in the open beta track will receive the OTA (over-the-air) update soon. Alternatively, you can flash the file manually if you download them from the Internet. However, remember to clear the cache after you do so, so that you won’t encounter any errors.
