The newest Android 7.1.2 Nougat will introduce Pixel Launcher to the Pixel C and reports confirm that it already has begun a larger roll out. Some Nexus Player and Pixel C users are receiving the update, and the two devices are finally going to be aligned to the speed of the latest Android version. Google describes Android 7.1.2 Nougat as a maintenance update for the operating system.
Android Central has reported that many users have received the update on their tablets during the last week. After the announcement made by the Canadian carrier Rogers revealing the plans for pushing an important update for the Pixel devices, an official roll out would come right on time. The Android 7.1.2 update is supposed to feature some important optimizations, bug fixes and several improvements for the users. The update should also enable VoLTE.
Slash Gear reports that the Android 7.1.2 won’t necessarily feature some mind blowing characteristics, but this won’t stop users from enjoying it after the ending of its beta period which was quite a success. Concerning the Rogers customers, the company assures them that there’s more to come in the future.
Unfortunately, the good news comes together with some sad info targeting owners of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. Latest reports have shown that Google still hasn’t decided on any update for these devices, so they won’t see Android 7.1.2 coming their way anytime soon. What’s even worse, Nexus 6’s Android 7.1.1 was replaced with the older version, Android 7.0 and this obviously caused disappointment for its users. However, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will still continue to receive some security updates.
While you’re getting familiar with the latest version of Android Nougat, don’t forget that Android O is also coming out later this year, and you can already check out the Developer Preview.
