Windows 10 Mobile vs. Android Marshmallow – Smartphone OS Battle in Features and Security

TNH Staff · April 4, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Get comfy because you’re about to witness the final fight between the big three operating systems; we’re more concerned with security and essential features.

Design & Interface

All three operating systems follow the historical style on interface, but they also have their own improvements for a better UX.

Windows 10 Mobile’s notification center arranges contents on categories and you can access more useful shortcuts.

iOS 9 has no major changes when compared to its predecessor, but it features a more elegant system font. It also has expanded clean typography.

Android Marshmallow has a new and improved app drawer in vertical scrolling; the app list is more intuitive and convenient.

Apps Stock and Downloadable

iOS has App Store, Android, Google Play and Windows 10 has Windows Store.

Features

Windows 10 Mobile comes with Universal Apps and an upgraded Cortana. All data can be automatically synced on laptop/PC, using the same Microsoft account. One Drive app lets you stream docs and photos to desktops and devices. Windows 10 Mobile is compatible with Android and iOS app.

iOS 9 has lots of built-in apps starting from the essentials and finishing with the new Apple Pay, and Apple Music. Siri has now become smarter. Multitasking runs in a more efficient way due to the 3 modes: Picture in Picture, Slide Over and Split View. Battery life is extended through Low Power Mode which gives you 1 more hour before charging.

Android Marshmallow has a Now on Tap feature based on Google Search. App Standby protects battery life and the new technology Doze will lead the phone to sleep mode automatically. Android Marshmallow is a more user friendly thanks to updated volume controls, easier text control and more. Although the multitasking is very attractive it can only be supported on iPad.

Security

Windows 10 Mobile has the security features from the previous versions but it’s dragged behind by the absence of TouchID. Android Marshmallow and iOS 9 bring enhanced mobile security and protection.

Loyal fans of the three operating systems will probably stick with their favorite, but it’s up to you what you’ll choose, in the light of some essential weaknesses and strengths that we’ve presented so far.
