This year, the new OnePlus phone will not be the OnePlus 4 but it will be named the OnePlus 5. Perhaps some people would be a bit confused as to the choice of numbers, while others would argue that it is technically the 5th iteration of the OnePlus line, with the OnePlus 3T taking up the fourth spot in the generation line. However, the truth might be that the OnePlus line will be skipping the number 4 because the number presents a sign of bad luck in Chinese culture. The rumors regarding the number have pretty much been resolved due to an official name and model number certification.
While the name is set in stone, the design of the phone itself is not.
What is known about the OnePlus 5
The OnePlus 3T phone has been launched with the black color scheme and it would seem that the OnePlus 5 will be following the same trail.
What is also interesting to see is that the it will incorporate a dual camera setup for the rear part of the device. The selfie camera will apparently be the same as the one used in the OnePlus 3T. Material wise, the future users of the OnePlus 5 have been assured that it will still have the well-known metal structure of its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T predecessors. Apparently, the OnePlus 5 will not have a back fingerprint scanner but it will be located to the front part of the device.
More speculative information keeps surfacing on the internet, with past leaks suggesting that the touchscreen will be a 5.5-inch QHD, the processor potentially being a Snapdragon 835. We will most likely see a minimum of 6GB RAM capacity, 256GB storage capacity.
The phone is suggested to be around 7mm thin.
